An Investment In Justice.

AN INVESTMENT IN JUSTICE
Why is AASRT, Inc. “An Investment In Justice”
While AASRT, Inc. is a charitable, tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization we see it as far more than just a charity. Rather, we do see donations to AASRT, Inc. as an “investment.”
An investment is defined as “the action or process of investing money for profit.” Donations to AASRT, Inc. are not corporate investments. Instead they are investments in people and systems:
People - who have been harmed generation after generation by the injustice of American slavery and America’s failure to provide adequate and prompt recompense to the formerly enslaved (and subsequently, their descendants) generation after generation.
Systems – some in place, others newly designed – built and implemented to grow sustainable, retainable, and protected wealth among a population of people $13 to $14 trillion dollars behind in collective net worth.
The definition of investment connotes an opportunity for the investor to profit over time in some way. This is an important feature of how AASRT, Inc. is pursuing Reparations. By investing in AASRT, Inc., benefactors are making “An Investment In Justice.” They are contributing to the cause with an expectation of every manner of profit that justice produces – community tranquility and peace, a strong sense of virtuous mission, harmony among neighbors, a verdant and growing economy that provides people with additional resources to purchase the goods and services that the benefactor sells or provides. Finally, they are investing in people and systems in a way that liberates them from any personal shame, fear or sense of powerlessness that may be present from being a descendant of the inflictors of the wrong or from having to endure or experience the indignity of watching people done wrong generation after generation for over 400 years.
And for all who have made or will make such a righteous investment, we say “thank you.” Your investment will pay in the lives of the people it touches and in the souls of the men and women of good report who make that same investment.
Sincerely,
Darryl L. Fortson, MD
